Career: Lorri has a B. A. degree in mathematics and education from the State University of New York and a Master’s in finance and business administration from Emory University; a Master’s in Global Ecommerce from Georgia State University and is pursuing a PhD in Information Systems at Nova Southeastern University and has completed graduate studies in IT at Georgia Tech. A CDP and principal with her husband, Larry W. Christopher, a retired vice president of OKI Telecom, in CAP Associates, a Georgia licensed business involved in human resources consulting “We assist companies in developing job specifications and employment criteria. A former project manager, technology games staffing, for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games, she was responsible for coordinating, recruiting, selecting, training, and implementing plans to deliver a trained technology team for the Games, integrating ACOG staff, volunteers and sponsor personnel. During the Olympic Games in Atlanta, Lorri was selected to carry the Olympic torch as a “community hero” for her passionate participation in community causes She received the Marian Goetze 21st Century Award from The International Alliance of Professional and Executive Women in 2005.
Before coming to Gwinnett Tech she was Chief Operating Officer, Atlanta Desktop; co-president, United Mortgage Company; marketing director, Right Associates; and held marketing and technical leadership positions at DCA and Unisys She served as a vice president of Midland Associates and as Vice President of Finance and MIS for Edward’s, Inc. She was the MIS director and program chair for CIS at Trident College in Charleston, S.C She is a former high school teacher of science and mathematics.
She is also a founder and director of Paces Bank & Trust; past chairman of the Georgia Council on Vocational Education; past member of the Governor’s Employment and Training Council, the Georgia 21 Commission; past president, International Alliance and GEWN; past member, Emory Alumni Board; past chair, Leadership Atlanta, Leadership America alumni board, on the national board of YES! America (a national program that encourages young people to become involved in their communities).
She is a recipient of the Atlanta Business Chronicle DECA award, and the TIA 21st Century Woman award She was inducted into the YWCA Academy of Women Achievers, listed in Who’s Who in International Business, Who’s Who in Technology, and Who’s Who in the Southwest and Southeast She also serves on the leadership committee for the Center for the Study of the Presidency She is the first recipient of the GEWN Founder’s Award. Locally, she is a past chair of the Gwinnett County l993 March of Dimes. A past chair of the Hearts for Hope benefit for the Partnership against Domestic Violence, she has served on the board for the Georgia Alliance for Children. Her international experience encompasses the Far East, Middle East, Latin America, Canada, Europe, and the Pacific Rim.
Currently she is also the Coordinator for Senior Leadership Gwinnett and active in the Gwinnett Chamber, United Way Women’s Legacy, and UPCCA, a 22 year member of the Dunwoody Rotary Club and Rotary District 6900 Chair of Group Study Exchange (GSE) serving as a team leader in 2003 (a program to involve young professionals in partnering with their international peers). She is also a Trustee for the Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP) supporting the North Fulton Rotary Clubs. She is a Rotary Major Donor, a Paul Harris Fellow, a Will Watt Fellow, Kendall Weisinger Fellow.
